Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter Events 2010
December 17, 2010: Wendell and Linda Edwards (left photo), John Greer (right photo), James Roddy, Betty Roddy, Larry Freeman, Amb Fletcher Warren Chapter and Don Seilert and Don Babbs helped to distribute gift bags for the Veterans at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Bonham.
December 16, 2010: Larry Freeman received a grant from the Wal Mart in Quinlan to help with our community and children's programs.
December 11, 2010: Christmas meeting. Election of new officers. Gathering of items for VA party.
December 10, 2010: John Greer and Larry Freeman received a donation from Brookshire's in Quinlan and Greenville for the veteran's Christmas party at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Hospital in Bonham.
December 6, 2010: DFW National Cemetery Honor Guard for a fallen Soldier's Funeral 12-6-10 Jim Johnson(D P), John Greer(G M), Don Sielert(M P), Bob Flagg(P D ), Bill Neisel(P), David Hall(Liberty Bell)(Dallas), Jim Miller (P), Peter Rowley(P D M)
November 16, 2010: It was standing room only in the council chambers as Wendell Edwards and John Greer of the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter of the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution said a few words of praise to Lieutenant Terry Miller and officer James Hildebrand with the Commerce Police Department. Miller has been with CPD for more than 17 years and Hildebrand has been with the department for more than eight years.
Following Edward's presentation, Police Chief Kerry Crews detailed the events leading to the two officers being nominated for their heroic actions during a March 7 incident that resulted in the shooting death of 29-year-old Artenio Rodriguez.
November 9, 2010:The City of Greenville was recognized Tuesday by the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter Sons of the American Revolution for the proper presentation of the American flag. From left City Manager Steven Alexander and Mayor Tom Oliver accepted the certificate of appreciation from Wendell Edwards, the organization's president and John Greer, the chapter's vice president. Brad Kellar.
November 9, 2010: Wendell Edwards and John Greer represented the chapter at the Regional Veterans Day program at the Bonham High School football stadium. Dana Bowman skydived from 5000 feet into the stadium.
Dana Bowman was a Special Forces soldier and a member of the U.S.Army's elite parachute team, The Golden Knights. In 1994, a mid-air collision cost him both of his legs. dana's determination in the army, and now in the civilian world, has earned him worldwide recognition as a motivational speaker and skydive demonstrator.
November 7, 2010: The Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter's members John Greer and Wendell Edwards attended a flagpole dedication at the Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie, TX, Sunday, Nov. 7 at 3:00 pm. Nathan Burt installed the flagpole at the cemetery for his Eagle School project. The cemetery is located on CR - 4705.
October 14, 2010: Larry Freeman, Wendell Edwards, John Greer and Linda Edwards served desert for the Fall Carnival at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bonham.
On September 18, 2010 in honor of Constitution Day members of the Denton, Plano and McKinney Chapters assisted the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter with their annual awards program at the Greenville Library. Members assisting in uniform were: Bob Flagg (Denton), Jim Johnson (Denton), Dan Reed (Denton). Don Seilert (McKinney and Plano), Drake Peddie (Plano), Howard Roach (Plano), Wendell Edwards (AFW) and John Greer (AFW).
September 17, 2010: Wendell Edwards, John Greer and Larry Freeman attended the DAR Constitution Day program at the Commerce City Hall.
GREENVILLE - Patriotism was on display at the Hunt County Fair Monday evening, June 14th, 2010 as the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution and the Greenville Elks Lodge No. 2437 conducted the annual local observance of Flag Day at the Main Stage Pavillion on the Fairgrounds.
The North Texas Color Guard presented the colors at the 57th Memorial Day Service on May 31, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Commerce. The Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter assists the Capt. Charles Croxall DAR Chapter in this Memorial Day Service each year. There were approximately 100+ in attendance. Warrant Officer Joseph Webber, United States Marine Corps, Helicopter Pilot Retired was the featured speaker for this moving ceremony. Area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts participated in the presentation of colors and the Hunt County Veterans Honor Guard presented flags from each of the military services. Amb. Fletcher Warren Chapt hosted a fish fry at the Wendell Edwards for Chapter Members and guests and those who participated in the Memorial Day Service.
