Minutes of June 12, 2010 meeting of Alexander Hamilton Chapter TXSSAR:
As the group gathered, fellowshiped and ordered our lunches, President Harlan Green talked about and handed out several things:
The Summer TXSSAR BOM meeting will meet at the Hilton at the Highland Mall in North Austin for those interested in attending.
He handed out NSSAR Merchandise lists.
He gave the present officers new name tags and discussed the purchase of more for the members (since the meeting, he has secured name tags for the entire membership).
We had 13 members and 2 guests sign the book (however 19 were present)
Harlan discussed the various types of uniforms and muskets available for the members interested in being in the color guard.
Treasurer Henry reported a balance of $2111.22
Eric Kirkland resigned as SGT of Arms and Dan Towery was appointed in his place.
A report of the JROTC units in Williamson County which this chapter has assumed responsibility for this year by giving out certificates and medals to the selected student in the following high schools school: Leanger Vista Ridge; Georgetown; McNeil; Leanger H.S.; Round Rock; Stoney Point; Westwood. The chapter members who assisted in handing the awards to the winning students were: Harlan Green; Mike Thomas; and James Scott. It is hoped that next year we can participate at all 7 High Schools.
Harlan stated that 2 members in uniform attended the DAR rededication of Monument at Founder's Memorial Park in Georgetown.
The minutes were approved as e-mailed to the membership.
An excellent program was presented by Eric Lashley, Head Librarian of the Georgetown Library. Highlights: the new library was occupied in 2008 and now has some 90,000 items in stock, 40 computers are also available for public use, and they have a Bookmobile which services the various Nursing Homes.
The meeting adjourned after the Recessional and Closing Prayer.
