As the group gathered and order lunches, President Green discussed several items of general interest.
It was also a time of getting acquainted as guests were recognized.
He introduced new member Orlyon Evens.
Then He noted that 3 of our members attended the BOM meeting in Austin on July 31st and helped with the registration. Our chapter was co-host with Patrick Henry Chapter of Austin. Don Bunnell gave a report of those activities he attended.
President Green opened the business part of the meeting with the pledges to the flags and prayer by Chaplain David Kirkland. These reports were given:
Treasurer Reese Henry, Jr reported that another gift of $500 was received from Exon which resulted in a new balance of $2453.96 on hand.
An appeal was made for members to get a uniform and join our Color Guard as we already have had several activities which involve them and we need more members in it.
The group was reminded that we do not have our meeting in September but will join with the Patrick Henry Chapter in Austin and the Capital Area Regents Council DAR Chapters in this area for the annual Constitution Week Luncheon on Sept. 18th at the Austin Woman's Club. Dr. Ed Dorn, Professor at UT is the speaker.
