- President James Scott opened the meeting

- Pledges to the flags of the United States of America, The State of Texas, and the Sons Of The American Revolution were led by Past

-president Ray DeVries and President

-Elect Lane Redwine.

- Guests were introduced by Secretary Rick Malley.

- Minutes of December's meeting were approved.

- Treasurer's report was given by Ray DeVries, in the absence of Treasurer Bill Freeman.

- Ray also reported on the health of Bill Freeman, Mike Nichols, and Will Else.

- President Scott told a humorous story about communication, and stated that he would like communication to be one of our key items for the coming year.

- Past President DeVries gave an update about the current annual report which is due January 15.

- Registrar Harry Walden gave an update about current applications. There are 4 supplemental and 3 applications that are now being mailed.

- President Scott encouraged new members to become participatory, particularly for the JROTC awards presentations. He also stated that there is a need for participants in color guard, which is involved in various community and area events.

- President Scott announced that February's meeting will be our bi

-annual joint meeting with DAR at th Austin Women's Club. Cost of the event is $26.00 per person.

- Past President Ray DeVries talked about his participation, along with Harry Walden and President Scott, for Operation Ancestry Search, for wounded warriors at Ft.Hood. They had 4 new people (soldiers) who attended the meeting on January 9.

- President Scott asked us to be mindful of the email that we got from the state office, regarding recruitment and developing our "elevator speech".

- Past President DeVries talked about the upcoming naturalization ceremony in February, at the library on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

- President Scott reminded us to make sure we pay our annual dues.

- President Scott also asked us to think of possible restaurants or other entities that may be willing to share a portion of entry fees/invoices with the chapter as a means of fund raising.

- At this time lunch was served.

- After lunch, President Scott introduced our speaker, Al Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales told us about his life of growing from a migrant worker to being a Ranger and Special Forces with the U. S. Army.

- After his remarks, President Scott presented Mr. Gonzales with a memento of his visit with us.

-Elect Lane Redwine led us in our recessional.
