May 9, 2015 minutes

- Meeting was called to order by President Jim Scott

- Pledges to the flag of the United States Of America, the flag of the State of Texas, and the flag of the Sons Of The American Revolution were led by Rick Malley

- Opening prayer was led by Chaplain William Towery.

- Guests were introduced by Secretary Rick Malley.

- Minutes of the April meeting were approved.

- President Scott mentioned that our scheduled speaker will not be with us, but he has a backup plan.

- President Scott told us about Sybil Ludington, "the female Paul Revere".

- President Scott talked about the progress of the JROTC awards programs.

- He also remarked about upcoming Color Guard activities.

- Treasurer Bill Freeman stated that we have $1692.72 in the treasury, with a couple of expenses that would reduce that amount slightly.

- Registrar Harry Walden stated that he has 10 applications that will be mailed soon, including 2 Juniors, plus 3 supplementals.

- Past President Ray DeVries told us that Operation Ancestry Search now has a "spot" where they can connect to the internet, with a bank of 4 computers. They had 3 soldiers who attended the previous meeting. They will meet twice a month in the afternoons.

- President Scott told us that the chapter will present flag certificate to Sun City Memorial Plaza.

- Mike Nichols talked about our Bronze Medal Award program. He talked about the Good Citizen Award, and how nominations could be made.

- Hearing no further business, we recessed for lunch.

- Following lunch, we watched a video about the Battle of Guilsford Courthouse. President Scott talked about having done research in the library there, and having talked with a fellow who was a direct descendant of one of the soldiers there.

- Recessional was led by Rick Malley
