June 13, 2015 minutes

- President James Scott called the meeting to order

- President Elect Lane Redwine led us in pledges to the flag of The United States of America, the flag of The State of Texas, and the flag of the Sons of The American Revolution

- Chaplain William Towery led the opening prayer

- Secretary Rick Malley introduced the guests for the day

- Minutes from the May meeting were approved

- President Scott read a brief history of the American flag, in honor of Flag Day, June 14.

- President Scott reported about the various JROTC awards presentations.

- He stated that we need more folks wo participate in color guard. There will be a naturalization ceremony at the Delco Center in the coming week. On July 2, there will be a presentation at Sun City Plaza. During this time, 2 flag awards will be presented. The color guard will present the Colors during the Sun City Singers concert on July 3. And on July 4, Alexander Hamilton Chapter, along with Patrick Henry Chapter, will present the Colors at the Round Rock Express game at the Dell Diamond.

- Past President Ray DeVries talked about Operation Ancestry Search (OAS) meetings at Ft. Hood. This month will have 3 meetings, June 3, June 9, and June 24. Attendance has increased since the program began.

- Registrar Harry Walden states that 3 supplementals and 5 applications have been submitted this month. He has several that he is working on at home.

- Treasurer Bill Freeman reports that we have $1626.73 in the treasury. He requests that if we know of companies with corporate donations, let him know.

- District 4 Vice President Ron Walcik reported that between Alexander Hamilton, Patrick Henry and Heart of Texas Chapters, all central Texas high schools were covered for JROTC awards.
He also encouraged us to make flag presentations to these schools. He made other comments, among which was to encourage Jr. membership.

- Mike Nichols, along with Mr. Wolcik, presented Good Citizen Awards to Ray DeVries, James Scott, and Mike Nichols. Mike also told us that anyone who was a member of SAR in 2014 is eligible to purchase the 125th anniversary commemorative medal.

- New Business

- President Scott told us that Roger Gore has resigned as Historian. Mr. Scott is asking anyone who is interested to let the officers know.


- President Elect Lane Redwine introduced Ann Evans, curator of the Williamson Museum, who spoke about some of the past history of Williamson County during the Civil War years.

- After her presentation, Colonel Shelby K. Little (retired) spoke about the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

- Mr. Redwine presented tokens of our appreciation for their presentations.

- Mr. Redwine led the SAR recessional.

- Chaplain Towery closed in prayer.
