SAR Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Contest & Scholarship


Purpose

The SAR awards the Arthur M. & Berdena King Eagle Scout Scholarship to foster the principles of the Boy Scouts of America.

Eligibility

Open to all Eagle Scouts who are currently registered in an active unit and have not reached their 19th birthday during the year of application.

The application year is the whole calendar year (1st Jan. to 31st Dec.). The year that Eagle was awarded is not restricted and college plans do not need to be completed in order to receive the cash scholarship.


Deadline

Mid December to the local Chapter, please contact the Chapter Chairman as needed. See the below Texas SAR link for more scheduling information.

  1. SAR Two page application form.
  2. SAR Four Generation ancestor chart (self plus 3 generations).
  3. SAR 500 word Patriotic Theme.

  1. Our chapter winner will advance to compete at the Texas State Society Conference. Chapter decisions are final. (At this point, a Texas SAR Permission/Release form is required).
  2. The Texas State Society Conference winner – $2,500 and will advance to compete at the National level.
  3. The National winners will receive:
    • 1st Place – $10,000
    • 1st Runner-up – $6,000
    • 2nd Runner-up – $4,000
