Minutes of the regularly slated meeting of the Dallas Chapter, Texas Society, Sons of the American Revolution held on Saturday, December 8th , 2001 at Luby’s Cafeteria, 6221 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas.

Around or about 8:00 a.m., President Gary Sisson called the meeting to order.  The sick call was read and the invocation delivered by Chaplain Frank Pounders.  Dakota Sisson, son of Compatriot Danny Sisson, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the U.S. Flag.  Spencer Sisson, also son of Compatriot Danny Sisson, led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag, and Former NSSAR South Central District Vice-President General Bob Coker led the Salute to the SAR Flag.  President Sisson led the a capella singing of the first verse of “America” and a verse of the perennial Christmas favorite “Joy to the World”, as well as a solo rendition of “Good King Wenceslas”.  Sergeant-at-Arms Tom Whitelock then led the members and guests to the breakfast serving line. 

The greeters were TXSSAR District 6 Vice-President Ralph McDowell and Compatriots Robert Mencke and Bert Huls.  Guests were introduced table-by-table by their hosts.  The guest list is available from the Treasurer’s sign-in sheet.  Resident humorist and Former Chapter President Art Ingalls delivered the joke of the day.  The minutes of the last meeting were not read, as they are posted on the Dallas Chapter website.

New members Glenn Toal and Scott Arbuckle were inducted, and Sergeant-at-Arms Whitelock gave a very moving Americanism presentation concerning the fate of some of our Founding Fathers.  He then returned to Former Chapter President Ingalls a book of jokes which had once been in his possession and had mysteriously disappeared.

It was decided that the March meeting of the Dallas Chapter, TXSSAR will be at the normal time and place on Saturday, March 16th, 2002, one week later than normal. Members were reminded to pay their dues by December 31, 2001.  Those members present voted their approval of the addition of a Surgeon General as a TXSSAR officer.

1st Vice-President Cliff Slagle introduced the speaker, Dr. Cal Christman, whose topic was “Pearl Harbor – Whose Victory, Whose Defeat?”.  Afterward, 1st Vice-President Slagle presented Dr. Christman with a miniature Liberty Bell replica.

Treasurer Tracy Pounders delivered the Treasurer’s report (cash in checking account-$1,464.97, cash on hand-$100.00 and investment funds-$33,396.38) and conducted a door prize drawing.  President Sisson delivered the SAR closing, and Chaplain Pounders gave the benediction.   The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:00 a.m.
