SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
Dallas Chapter Meeting & Diamond Anniversary Celebration
Hackberry Creek Country Club, Irving, TX
July 10, 2004

President Tracy Pounders called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.

Chaplain Frank Pounders gave the Sick Call: Ted Hasbrouck's wife passed away. On the way to the funeral, he fell and broke his leg; he is now in the VA Hospital.

Honors were given to the American, Texas and SAR Flags, led respectively by Dr. Gary Sisson, Ted Anderson, and Mark Hansen. The Judy Moore Trio led in the singing of "America."

Second VP Tom Smith read proclamations signed by Texas Governor Rick Perry and Dallas Mayor Laura Miller.

Compatriot Jim Templin introduced the greeters.

TXSSAR President Roy Adams made and/or announced the following awards:

President Adams announced that the past year has been an outstanding year for the Texas Society in terms of awards. He also announced that the South Central District Meeting will be at the DFW Holiday Inn Select on August 21.

Minutes of the June Chapter meeting were unanimously approved as posted on the website.

Registrar Mel McCoy reported on 288 current members and a backlog of over 10 applications pending.

North Texas Militia Commander Charles Baker thanked all those who had participated in the numerous parades and other appearances. In the last two months, SAR colors guards have been seen in North Texas by more than 120,000 people. This is great publicity for the SAR.

Program Chairman Tom Whitelock introduced the Judy Moore Trio which performed a patriotic medley and readings during dinner.

The meeting reconvened at 8:10 p.m.

President Tracy Pounders led a toast to the United States of America, to the Revolution that changed the World, and to the SAR organization that is dedicated to making sure that nobody forgets what it is all about.

Chapter Designated Comedian Art Ingalls educated the chapter with humor.

Ralph McDowell recognized 12-2/3 members of the Chapter who were alive on July 4, 1929 when the Dallas Chapter was founded. (Frank Pounders was 6 months of the way toward being born.) Judge Bob White, at 89, was the oldest compatriot present. Tom Smith was recognized as having been a member of the SAR longer than any other member of the Chapter. Ralph also recognized 18-year-old Cole Youngman as the youngest pending member.

At 8:28, President Pounders turned the floor over to VP Tom Whitelock for the Diamond Anniversary Program. Tom presented the special Trezevant Award (honoring the memory of the first chapter president, Col. John Trezevant) to all living presidents of the Dallas Chapter. Each award recipient who was present was given the opportunity to speak briefly on something that happened during his presidency. Awards were later mailed to recipients not present. Those present who received the award (in reverse chronological order) were:
