Jim Johnson took this picture of John Greer at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in December, 2010. It was entered in the National Congress photo contest and won. Jim won a $1000 and Jim and John went to the Congress to accept the award.

Here is the story that was submitted to the "The Texas Compatriot" Newsletter:


"Dr. James Jefferson Johnson, Jr. recently received the Thomas Jefferson Bond Award from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution in the amount of $1000 for the best photograph depicting the Spirit of Patriotism for 2010-2011. The award was presented by NSSAR President General David Sympson at the Monday Night Recognition Ceremony July 11th during the 121st National Congress in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Compatriot John Greer, the "frontiersman" in the photograph, accompanied Compatriot Johnson to receive the award. The photograph was taken by Dr. Johnson on December 6th, 2010, at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery where Compatriots Johnson and Greer were participants in the Honor Guard for PFC Devon Harris, KIA."
