CHAPTER 28 LUFKIN, TEXAS

Minutes September 25, 2014

The Lt. Nathan Gann Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held a meeting on Thursday, September 25th, 2014 at Lufkin BBQ..  Members and guest assembled about 5:45 PM and most enjoyed a Dutch Treat Dinner prior to the program.  SAR members present included:Tom Gann, President, Richard Rosenberg, VP, Fred Preston, Secretary; Harold Newsom, Treasurer; Thomas Anderson, Sgt. at Arms;  David Adams and Bob Ham.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        .  
Guests included Betty Preston, Charlene Ham, Jo Ann Anderson, Ben and Ellen Pyle, Tony and Peggy Jasso and the speaker Carolyn Ericson.  All told there were  7 members and 8 guests. .

Members and guests ordered from the menu starting at 6 PM.

President Tom Gann called the meeting to order at approximately 6:45 PM.  He led the assemblage in the pledge to the American Flag and then gave an invocation.  At this time he asked Thomas Anderson to introduce his guests, Tony and Peggy Jasso and also his wife Jo Ann.  Tom then called Richard Rosenberg  to the podium and presented him with his membership papers and rosette.  Harold Newsom gave the treasurer's report.  Tom asked for the Secretaries report and Fred responded no report. (Minutes of the previous meeting are on the web page.)  At this point, Secretary Fred Preston came forward and officially installed Tom as the President of the Chapter with the neck ribbon and presidents medal.   Tom then introduced Carolyn Ericson who is well known in genealogical circles in both Nacogdoches and Lufkin.  Carolyn talked about Civil War Research and gave information on numerous sources of information..   It was a very enlightening talk and well received by all.  

Tom closed the meeting by leading the group in the closing admonition. at approximately 7:25 PM.
