Washington's Birthday Celebration (Laredo) February 19-20
Thanks to the planning and hard work of Rick Ramirez and other members of the Laredo Chapter #61, the SAR had quite a presence at the 2010 Washington's Birthday Celebration in Laredo, TX. We participated on Friday evening by providing a colonial dress and flag presence at the entrance to The Society of Martha Washington Colonial Pageant and Ball. Early Saturday morning a core unit of the TXSSAR Color Guard accompanied "George Washington" and others to the International Bridge Ceremony. Later, the entire SAR Color Guard contingent participated in the Washington's Birthday Parade. At every event where the SAR was represented, David Hall set up his Liberty Bell for display and sounding. The tolling of this replica of the Liberty Bell resounded across two countries as it sat in the middle of the International Bridge and announced the arrival of the American contingent of the celebration. This National SAR event drew participants from both coasts and from many states in between.
